Africa Inland Church Kijabe Hospital, Kijabe, Kenya Children and families bear a significant burden of human immunodeficiency virus disease globally, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. Care of severely affected families can be adversely impacted by high medication burdens and overwhelmed caregivers, who themselves may be human immunodeficiency virus infected. Family-centered care involving joint clinic days, treatment preparation, adherence counseling, and community-based follow-up may improve the care of family units. We describe the successful treatment of a single family composed of 6 infected members living in a rural African setting.
